This latest entry in the best-selling author's "Dark Hunter" series presents the story of Ren Waya, the son of a goddess/demon, who once released horrendous evil into the world. Kateri Avani is unaware that she is the only person who can reset the gates to other worlds and stop the worst of the evils from entering our realm. Throughout her life, she has had disturbing dreams, including one about a gorgeous man who always kills her. When Kateri meets Ren, she -realizes he is the man from the dreams, and each must trust the other to save the world. A departure from the typical series entry, this tale focuses on Maya and American Indian folklore and is told through a significant number of flashbacks and memories, which can be hard to follow. Award-winning narrator Holter Graham has performed the series for a number of years and is a perfect match for the material, distinctly conveying a wide range of voices. VERDICT While not the strongest of the bunch, this is sure to be popular with Kenyon's many fans.-Donna -Bachowski, -Orange Cty. Lib. Syst., Orlando, FL (c) Copyright 2012.
