In Fighting Man Tully Bain returns after a three-year absence to assume his half ownership in the Broken Bell. He hopes this time to renew his courtship with Beth Carradine who originally refused to leave with him. What he finds however is that much has changed while he was gone. Perhaps the change that means the most to Tully Bain is that this time Beth Carradine who loves him wants to marry him in spite of her fathers different plans for her future.
